Description
Washington Heights is part of Lower Manhattan and named one of the safest Manhattan neighborhoods by a respected news source. Its borders run from Dyckman Street to the north, Harlem River to the east, 155th Street to the south, and the Hudson River to the west.

In this town are many artistic and recreational activities going on. The Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance was founded in 2007 and their mission is to support and promote the works of artists and organizations in the Northern Manhattan area. This Washington Heights organization also holds an annual month-long arts festival called the Uptown Arts Stroll. During the month of June, artists from Inwood and Washington Heights show off their works.

The Hispanic Society of America has the largest collection of works by noted artists El Greco and Goya. The Morris-Jumel Mansion is a landmark that dates back to the 18th Century, making it one of Manhattan's oldest structures.

The Paul Robeson Home is located on the corner of Edgecombe Avenue and 160th Street and is a National Historic Landmark building.

Washington Heights boasts eight beautiful parks such as Bennett Park, which sits on the highest point in Manhattan. Fort Tryon Park has many things to do in addition to visiting the Cloisters
museum and Riverside Park is best known for its waterfront space.

There are many restaurants from which to choose such as Aquamarina, El Malecon, Empire, and Capri, just to name a few. Washington Heights also has delis, grocers, and convenience stores within walking distance.

Washington Heights has several options for public transportation. These include the New York City Subway, IND Eighth Avenue Line, the A and C
trains, the IRT Broadway- Seventh Avenue Line.

Homes in Washington Heights are ideal because the area is safe but the cost of living is reasonable compared to other parts of Manhattan. The great thing is that downtown Manhattan is only a few
miles away.
