Description
Sunset Park is a unique neighborhood. Not only is it one of Brooklyn's more diverse areas but it also has great views of downtown Brooklyn, Manhattan, and New Jersey. Amongst the quiet brownstones on 6th and 9th Avenues is a diverse culture that includes Latin Americans, a large Chinese population, and a host of New Yorkers looking for a change in scenery and cheap rent.

Brooklyn's own Chinatown is located along Eighth Avenue and boasts Chinese, Malaysian, and Vietnamese eateries and street vendors. Many people come here to buy paper lamps as well as other authentic Asian goods. Anyone who visits Fifth Avenue will find Little Latin America charming with its live music, grocers, and restaurants.

The community of Sunset Park and at its heart is its namesake, is a 25-acre park that locals love to visit annually. Here, visitors will find the views irresistible, ball courts, pool, and walk paths. There is also a memorial for the 9/11 victims of September 11th.

This park allows visitors to see parts of New Jersey, Staten Island, and the Statue of Liberty when standing at its highest peak.

The Art Deco-style pool, which was built in the 1930s, is still popular today, especially in the summer months. Sunset Park has many recreational activities for people of all ages, including a wading pool for small children. There are many water athletic programs available to the public that cater to beginners, as well as those who are advanced.

Sunset Park also has a food cart, dog run areas, showers, and more. There is also a Computer Recreation Center, library, dance center, and a workout facility that has cardio equipment and free weights.

Many subway and bus lines as well as the ferry service this area. There are also "Chinese vans" that travel within the area to different locations. These can be found along 8th Avenue.
