Description
Prospect Heights is in the northwest part of Brooklyn. It is bound by Atlantic Avenue to the north, Washington Avenue to the east, Grand Army Plaza to the south, and Flatbush Avenue to the west.

For the longest, this neighborhood was rows of quiet co-ops and brownstones with tree-lined streets- that is, until the Barclay's Center opened in 2012. The indoor sports and concert stadium has breathed new life into the area and introduced the area to a new generation of Brooklynites.

There have also been other changes to take place in Prospect Heights such as cultural diversity, more green spaces, and a growing Vanderbilt Avenue where many businesses flourish. Washington Avenue has also seen a surge in foot traffic due to its retailers and restaurants.

Compared to areas like Park Slope, the cost of living is considerably less in Prospect Heights. Many pre-war apartment buildings offer great views of the city that can be found on the north of Eastern Parkway.

Many places of interest include the Prospect Park Zoo, Beaux Arts Brooklyn Museum, and Brooklyn Public Library. Prospect Heights also has many acres of running paths, ball courts and fields as well as picnic spaces. Eastern Parkway has many offerings that people of all ages can take interest.

One event that many in Prospect Heights look forward to is the Labor Day West Indian Day Parade. This is the biggest annual parade that draws in millions of people. The event finishes at the Grand Army Plaza near Prospect Avenue.

For those seeking the nightlife, Vanderbilt Avenue has many bars and restaurants that cater to the area's diverse culture. Any can enjoy a home-brewed beer or freshly brewed coffee at Sit and Wonder. Branded Saloon is also a great place to check out live music.
