Description
Midtown East, located between 40th and 60th Streets and 5th and 3rd Avenues, is rife with financial institutions, law firms and luxurious hotels and restaurants. The area is primarily a business district and you’ll find it full of businessmen and women during normal working hours throughout the week. It is one of the busiest pedestrian areas in the city with all kinds of people constantly out and about on the streets. There are a number of attractions here, namely the newly renovated Grand Central Terminal, Saint Patrick Cathedral and the world-famous Rockefeller Center.

There are still areas within Midtown East that are residential, though. In the general vicinity of Central Park, the northern part of the neighborhood, there are a handful of gloriously built luxury residential towers, most notable Trump Tower on Fifth Ave. where ‘The Donald’ Trump lives and works. A good majority of the residents of Midtown East work in the area, as well as it is truly convenient being able to walk to work and also be able to enjoy the 850 acre park practically on their door step.

Another attraction to the Midtown East neighborhood is the sheer number of fine dining establishments available in the area, notably from 55th Street on up. The world famous Russian Tea Room is here as is Tratoria, another well known restaurant catering to the more affluent diners of the city. Many of the residents here are known public figures, celebrities, and other wealthy individuals which makes the rent and sales prices some of the highest that the city has to offer. Another aspect of this neighborhood is the availability of the exclusive shopping that 5th Avenue offers. All of the major designers like Gucci, Armani, Versace and Tiffany’s are just a stone’s throw away.

To those who can afford it, Midtown East is about as close to Nirvana as you can get within NYC. Should residents ever need to venture afield to distant parts of the city, there are 6 different subway lines servicing the area and the Grand Central Terminal is within a five minute walk from nearly anywhere in the area.
