Description
Inwood is known for its many green spaces that include many parks and community gardens. This is a mostly residential area that has, for the most part, five to eight-story prewar structures that are generally lower than those areas west of Broadway.

This neighborhood people that are diverse as far as cultural backgrounds are concerned. Inwood is bound by the Harlem River to the northeast, Fort Tryon Park to the south, and the Hudson River to the west. Some may disagree slightly but it is a small community.

There are many parks in Inwood as they include Inwood Hill Park, Ft. Tryon Park, and Isham Park.

Inwood Hill Park is located on the Hudson River and a woodsy city park known for the various birds that migrate throughout the year. There
is also a ball complex, tennis courts, three playgrounds, a waterfront promenade, and expansive hiking trails.

Other notable are found at Columbia University's 23-acre athletic fields at the Baker Field Athletics Complex. The Lawrence A. Wien football stadium within the complex accommodates 17,000 fans and Sports Illustrated called it "one of the most beautiful places to watch a football game" due to the Hudson Bridge views from the stands.

Ft. Tryon Park also has The Lt. William Tighe Triangle, better known as the Riverside-Inwood Neighborhood Garden (RING). Founded in 1984, it is Inwood's oldest community garden and has events year-round that focus on performances and the environment. It is located at the northern part of Ft. Tryon Park, where Riverside Drive, Dyckman Street, Broadway and Seaman Avenues
meet.

Also in Inwood are The Cloisters, which is part of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and its focus is on medieval art and culture.

The Inwood Hill Park boasts 200 acres of forestland. Here visitors can enjoy the soccer and ball fields and there are also kayaking and canoe sites as well as a nature center. This park also has hiking and barbecue areas.
