Description
Union Square Park is aptly situated at the apex of several of NYC's most desirable and sought after residential neighborhoods. The park itself is bordered by Union Square East, Union Square West, and 17th Street to the north, with 14th Street to the south.

To the north of USP lays the Flatiron District which derives its name from the uniquely narrow, corner-defining Flatiron Building which is found right at the intersection of Broadway and Fifth Avenue. This neighborhood is known for being a cultural center for technology, nightlife and commerce and has gained a sizable reputation over the past century. You'll find that New York University (NYU) and the New School are ever present in this area, as well. The proximity of these universities means that there are plenty of young people out and about in Flatiron which is one of the main reasons why the nightlife and social life in general in the district is so hot.

On any given day in the center of Union Square Park, you can find an eclectic mix of merchants, street entertainers, students and regular people strolling about, meeting with friends or just relaxing in the always-festive atmosphere.

The Park itself at Union Square is the home of one of NYC's best farmer's markets. The merchants there offer up a full range of specialty products, artisanal foods and other fresh foods from the local and regional area. The market is open year round and is held four times per week.

Union Square Park and Flatiron are especially lively during the winter holidays and the neighborhood hosts what seems to be an endless array of holiday extravaganzas and gift markets. All around the park and neighborhood there are blocks and blocks of chain stores and local favorites that offer up some of the best shopping in the city. Finding something to eat in Flatiron is never a problem either, as there is no shortage of restaurants, cafes, coffee shops and bars in which to grab a meal and a drink at any time of the day or night. In addition to that selling point, from this neighborhood it is very easy to reach most other destinations in the city via service by the 4, 5, 6, L, N, Q, R, and W subway lines.
