Description
Downtown Brooklyn has a population of about 2.5 million people. The area has many historic brownstones and attractive new residential buildings, bringing together a diverse set of neighbors. Its boundaries are the East River to the north, Flatbush Avenue to the east, Fulton Street between Smith and Ashland to the south, and Cadman Plaza to the west.

Prior to the growing real estate developments, Downtown Brooklyn was a mostly commercial and civic center that includes the MetroTech Center, the Kings County New York State courthouse, and the Barclays Center. They also have many institution of higher learning that include St. Francis College, NYC College of
Technology, and Long Island University.

The Brooklyn Academy of Music was founded in 1861 and has over 220 performances annually, with over half a million patrons that come every year. This has led to the development of multiple theaters that feature live performances, dance workshops, and studio spaces.

Places to visit in Downtown Brooklyn include
the Fulton Mall, New York Transit Museum and the Borough Hall Greenmarket, which sells fresh produce grown by local farmers. On the business streets are quite a few street vendors who are ready to make a deal.

There are also many art galleries, theaters, and restaurants, which offer a wide range of delicious cuisine. From Brooklyn-style pizza to Chinese or Italian, there is an eatery to satisfy many palettes.

Cadman Plaza Park has 10 acres of green space and is ideal for going on a stroll with man's best friend. It was recently renovated by the NYC Parks Department to include Wi-Fi services

Getting around Downtown Brooklyn is quite a breeze as there are many transportation options. These include the New York Subway, the IRT, the BMT, and Long Island Railroad. While these travel just about anywhere in the city, a person may find that walking is just as effective.
