Description
Boerum Hill is an irregularly shaped area in Brooklyn. It is bound Pacific to the north, Nevins to the east, Wyckoff to the south and Hoyt to the west. Many gorgeous 19th century Victorian homes have either been restored or converted into duplexes. Newer properties have terraces, oversized window, and open kitchens. Homes west of Henry Street offer wonderful views of the New York Harbor and are a little quieter.

Residents of Boerum Hill include local artists and young families. Living here has been on the higher end of the scale since the early 1990s.

When it comes to things to do and see, a number of cultural activities include the Brooklyn Academy of Music, Issue Project Room, and Roulette. For those who love the visual arts, there is the Atlantic Design district where there are many art galleries and shows.

Boerum Hill also has a community garden on Hoyt Street. Other outdoor activities can be enjoyed at Prospect Park. On its 585 acres are a tennis area and many lakes that are ideal for a tranquil stroll or bike ride.

Shopping runs the gamut, as there are antique shops, bookstores, and upscale retailers.

The majority of restaurants in Boerum Hill can be found on Atlantic, Court, and Smith Streets. There are gourmet grocers, bistros, and exclusive dining establishments. Most notable are Restaurant Saul, known for its baked Alaska, Wild Ginger, ideal for Asian fusion and vegetarian meals, and Char No. 4, which serves delectable Southern entrees and other comfort food. The Mile End Delicatessen is also a popular place to have a simple sub, pastry, or chicken soup

To burn off the calories, there are many clubs and places to hang out after dark along Atlantic Street.

Notable celebrities who call Boerum Hill home include Keri Russell, Emily Mortimer, and Michelle Williams.
